Pine St. Kitchen #4
My mother said she didn't really like to cook, but here’s what I remember eating: bluefish baked in cracker crust, giant peanut spice cookies, poached chicken, blueberry pie, baked ham and macaroni and cheese or scalloped potatoes when guests were expected on a late boat. Shoofly, Irish coffee, Mystery Torte (made from Ritz crackers), cocktail cheese wafers, lobster salad, steamboat stew. Early on my father liked to broil huge steaks on a hibachi in the fireplace, but the smoke alarms drove us crazy.
