My family has been going to Nantucket since the 1940s. Old things pile up there. Wide-board floors, many-paned windows, faded bricks. Houses, many built in the 1700s, "come with" furniture too heavy to move, cups that have lost their saucers, cracks stuffed with Civil War newspapers, postcards from vacationers no one knows.
